He was born in Georgia and was raised in Westminster, South Carolina. He got married Julie Chrisley in 1996 and they raised five children together. Teresa Terry was his first marriage. As an infant He lost his brother Derrick Chrisley. He and Julie, his spouse, have five children, who all are featured on the program.
